Is there a way to make use of a slider in GNU Octave?

In Scilab it is possible to create a "scale" using the Tcl/Tk toolkit and
use it to spontaneously change the falue of a variable parameter in a
Scilab subroutine. This is a very nice feature. I am thinking of
changing over to Octave because it is open source (philosophical reasons)
but I need some way of "adjusting" variable values "on the fly" like a
slider. Anyone suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

John,

I do not have an answer to your slider question (I'm an Octave
user, haven't really used Scilab)... but I do not understand your
sentence

"I am thinking of changing over to Octave because it is open source
(philosophical reasons)"

As far as I know, Scilab is also distributed under the CeCILL
license, which is a GNU GPL compatible license. So it is also an Open
Source project, isn't it? See http://www.scilab.org/legal/

Kind regards,
Bart
