I've searched high and low for a version history, with a list a
incremental features in each release. I'm using Octave version 2.1.73,
which comes with the current cygwin setup. I'm seeking a version
history to see what features are missing from this version relative to
the current Octave. I tried google and groups. Next, I searched the
files that come with octave in cygwin. I looked for any file with the
string "octave" in its full file path (regardless of case). I then
used vimgrep to search those files for the string pairs "release
history", "version history", and "revision history" (with any nonzero
amount of non-alphanumeric characters between the two words in each
pair. I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions (or even links to a version
history) would be appreciated! Thanks!

Actually, there are revision histories in cygwin's octave files, but
they are for m-files rather than octave itself. I also ran into an old
revision history at ftp://ftp.octave.org/pub/octave/NEWS, but it
predates the one I'm using. So thanks again for any pointers to an
up-to-date revision history.

Actually, I think this is no longer an issue! The latest recommended
version is the one I got with cygwin (2.1.73, above). The much higher
version is 2.9.9, but is probably not as stable. Thanks anyway!
